Edwina Hayes
Tel: Harvey Brown on 01482 864979 for further details.
Enjoy an evening of acoustic music at The Molescroft Pavilion on Saturday 17th March starting at 7.45pm until 10.30pm. The concert will feature two unique performers who have steadily gathered an army of followers which include many top names from the music world. Opening the evening will be East Yorkshire’s best kept secret, Edwina Hayes. Although born in Ireland and raised in Lancashire, the singer-songwriter settled in East Yorkshire many moons ago and has become something of a legend since. Apart from constantly gigging around the UK, Edwina spends a lot of time in Nashville where she has been successfully honing her craft and is well loved by the Alt-Country set. She has toured the UK with some of the very best performers from both sides of the Atlantic including Van Morrison, Nanci Griffiths, Roger McGuinn, Lulu and Gretchen Peters to name just a few.
Our other guest this evening, Roger Davies, is more familiar around the towns and villages of Calderdale rather than the bright lights of Music Row. However, having already released four and about to offer his fifth CD to a rapidly increasing fan base, Roger remains the ultimate Yorkshire Singer. His love of his home county shines like a miner’s lamp amongst the dark, meanderings that are all too often presented as Folk music. Roger’s songs are joyous hymns to ordinary people and the towns or cities they inhabit. Take "Peter Brookes Paintings" in which Roger compares a local artist with the great masters. No prizes for guessing who he likes best. The great singer-songwriter, Harvey Andrews, cites Roger as "The best I’ve seen in twenty years" so come along and see if you agree with him.
