Scout gets Parish support for World Scout Jamboree
The Parish Council has given local scout a donation (£50) for work carried out at the Pavilion which is to help with his expenses in attending the Scout World Jamboree. (picture show Robert being presented with a cheque from the Parish from the Parish Council Chairman, Mike Hildyard)
Robert is an Explorer Scout at Molescroft. He joined the Group as a Cub at the age of 9, and is 16 in September.
Attending a World Scout Jamboree is considered to be the pinnacle of a young person's Scouting "journey". Young people have to apply for a place within their district or county's contingent. Robert is one of around 32 young people attending from the Humberside Scout County which covers the local authority areas of the East Riding, Hull, North Lincs & North East Lincs) & the only one from the Beverley & Hornsea Scout district, so he has done well. All the UK participants have to raise £2000 to attend the jamboree, which Robert is well on the way to achieving. He is very active within the Explorer Unit, fully participating in their activities, from flying to caving to camping.
